The Canadian Business Council (CBC) Abu Dhabi is pleased to support the webinar hosted by Australian Business Group Abu Dhabi, on the topic: Litigation Funding, One of the biggest challenges faced by businesses in the UAE.

The webinar will discuss the options available for business to recover accounts receivables through effective mediation, conciliation, negotiation, legal notice and litigation fund route in the UAE.

Speakers:

  • Dilip N Massand, Esq., Chief Executive Officer, Phoenix Advisors. Mr. Massand is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Advisors, Ltd., an Abu Dhabi based firm focused on co-funding of litigation in mature and emerging markets, as well as credit opportunities in the GCC and surrounding regions. Phoenix also offers dispute resolution and advisory services to clients seeking to navigate multijurisdictional issues and global opportunities. Mr. Massand has over 20 years of international experience working with Institutional Investors, Multinational Corporations, Banks, and Ultra High Net Worth Individuals in the United States, the Middle East, and India.
  • P. V. Sheheen, Board Member for Litwins Ltd. and Managing Director for Goodwins Law Corporation. Mr. Sheheen is an Advocate and Legal Consultant with over 28 years’ experience in the United Arab Emirates and India with full rights of advocacy in all courts of India including the Supreme Court and also DIFC Courts in UAE. He is the Managing Partner of Goodwins Law Corporation and has extensive knowledge and experience in all fields of UAE Laws. Sheheen is a Director on the Advisory Board of First Law International (FLI Net), which comprises 85 law firms from 81 countries and 17,000 lawyers. Sheheen is also the Vice President of Indian Business and Professional Group, Abu Dhabi. Sheheen is a philanthropist, an avid reader on philosophy and spirituality and an active critic of political-social issues.
  • Rajiv Shah, Director - Strategy & Business Development, Litwins Ltd. Mr. Shah is an Indian Chartered Accountant. He has over 24 years of professional experience. He headed the Middle East Practice of A F Ferguson & Co Management Consultancy (now Deloitte) and then served as the Group CEO and Group CFO with Emirates National Holdings LLC, Abu Dhabi. He started his own venture GIC Consultants in 2013. He is the Founder and CEO of CapitaWorld ME Ltd, a fintech start-up. Rajiv is the Past Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the current General Secretary of the Indian Business & Professional Group, Abu Dhabi. By hobby, Rajiv is an author a best-selling fiction novel and an avid squash player.
