Join the Canadian Business Council (CBC) Abu Dhabi in collaboration with Toronto Finance International (FTI) for a Roundtable Discussion on the Future of the Financial Services and Fintech Sector.

This 60-minute virtual event will include a 30-minute roundtable discussion with panelists from large institutional players in the financial services industry, followed by a 30-minute segment with eight Canadian Fintech startups presenting their profiles and goals for the UAE market.

The panelists are:

Welcome and Introduction


David Laliberte

Chairperson, Canadian Business Council Abu Dhabi

David Laliberte is a Canadian lawyer, angel investor and venture capital fund co-founder with more than 20 years of experience across the telecommunications, technology, media, and legal industries. His broad areas of expertise include corporate governance, technology law, intellectual property law, strategic planning, regulatory compliance and privacy. Throughout his career, he has held various counsel and leadership positions at organizations including Dentons LLP, Baker & McKenzie, Rogers Communications, BlackBerry and Microsoft.

In his current role as Executive Director, Legal, at Digital 14 LLC in Abu Dhabi, he leads a team of six professionals responsible for all legal and regulatory matters including commercial transactions, intellectual property and interactions with regulatory agencies. Until the end of 2015, he served as Director of Intellectual Property Policy at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington, where he was responsible for driving the company’s IP strategy, positioning, and engagement in several jurisdictions, including Europe, India and Canada.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in Public Policy and Administration from York University and a Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Ottawa. He is quite knowledgeable about the roles and responsibilities of board members having worked alongside board leadership on numerous projects throughout his career as well as by serving as Chairman of the Board of the Centre Francophone de Toronto.

Jennifer Reynolds, MBA, ICD.D

President & CEO - Toronto Finance International

Jennifer Reynolds is the President & CEO of Toronto Finance International (TFI), a public-private partnership whose mission is to promote and develop Toronto’s financial services sector, and to establish its prominence as a leading global financial centre.

Jennifer’s 20 year career in the financial services industry has included senior roles in investment banking, venture capital, and global risk management. Prior to joining TFI, Jennifer was the President & CEO of Women in Capital Markets (WCM), Canada’s largest industry association and advocacy group for women in the financial sector.

Jennifer is a Director on the Board of Citibank Canada, Director on the Board of BF&M Ltd, Director on the Board of the Canada Development Investment Corporation ("CDEV"), and a Director on the Board of Women’s College Hospital Foundation. In 2015 and 2017, she was named a Women's Executive Network (WXN) Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winner.

Jennifer is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Women's Leadership program, and she received her MBA from McGill University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Economics and Political Science from McGill University. Jennifer also holds the Institute of Corporate Directors Designation, ICD.D.
