Abu Dhabi, 14 June, 2024 — We recently celebrated over 50 years of UAE-Canada diplomatic relations, a milestone marked by shared values and extensive bilateral partnerships across sectors such as healthcare and education. Our enduring ties are highlighted by our joint commitments to women’s empowerment, global peace, sustainability, and development, with notable collaborations involving organizations like IRENA and ICAO.
Since the establishment of the UAE Embassy in Canada in 1999, bilateral trade has experienced remarkable growth, expanding from $365 million to over $3 billion in 2023. This growth includes significant UAE investments in Canada, reinforcing the UAE's position as Canada's top export destination in the MENA region. The introduction of direct flights and visa-free travel has further strengthened our relationship, offering immense potential for future growth.
The Canadian Business Council Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Embassy of Canada in Abu Dhabi, has played a crucial role in aligning and supporting shared initiatives. Their guidance and support have been instrumental in fostering bilateral relations and advancing mutual interests.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Canadian Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Kris Panday, and Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner Loc Pham for their continued support and dedication to enhancing our partnership.
As we reflect on our achievements, we look forward to further collaboration and growth in our relationship, driven by the opportunities and potential that lie ahead.
